Just finished decorating first son's bedroom. Will re-carpet it next week, but we are looking for a cheap bed.

He's away from home at the moment, and only home for occasional visits. The room is not massive, so I'd like a 4'6" divan so the footprint is as small as possible.

Plus headboard and mattress. We like the Eve Original Hybrid and will probably get one of those.

There are lots of cheap beds, but I don't want a rubbish one.

Has anyone bought a divan and headboard recently?

Not had one for years, the most important think about a bed is a decent mattress. Ilea do a decent frame and bed.

I'd 2nd Ikea for mattresses but the one I bought was way thicker than the usual and comparatively expensive with a rather long guarantee. I'm pretty heavy and have back problems if a bed sags. 90 odd kg but lost some now. Seems to be an age thing but due to discuss with a doc.

I also sleep a few nights now and again on a wooden slat bed fitted with a roll up memory foam and spring mattress. A few nights generally once a month and still ok over several years.

My experience with beds bought with a mattress is that part only lasts a few years.

I found it was a mistake to help a bad back with a stiffer mattress so tend to go for medium and avoid hard: mattress toppers can help a lot

I'd get a frame with headboard from Facebook marketplace - much better quality for the same price, and spend money on a decent mattress.
