New boiler advice please

it wasnt an experienced installer that put that in. probably a former IT bod whose wasted his redundancy on a course.

by-pass in wrong place,
don't like the combined feed & vent position,
vent above hw valve unneccessary.
Auto air vents pain in butt,
don't like the pump make/model

This is a reply to all, not just the above quote.

The boss walked upstairs, turned the corner and his face dropped & muttered the words b***** h***.
Immediately said the valves will be lowered to below the top of cylinder with the bypass above them and the replacement pump in different clips at the height of where the bypass is, the flow pipe at the top will be redone so its level with the F&V to avoid airlocks.

That sounds better to me as the pump will be 900mm below F&V and 1200mm below header level.

The bleed above HW valve does collect air but I think I agree is unnessessary

Been on site with a Grundfoss Engineer this morning who says DAB's are made by and serviced by Grundfoss, this backs up what I was told by the suppliers when I got it (about a month before the new boiler was fitted, by arrangement with and paid for by the installer)

He reckons he would like to see it pumping up in the return but that would not be in accordance with boiler manufacturers.

Ben the position of everything makes the primary difficult to run any where else and short of running flow down lower then up into pump and back down, this is about the way to do it.

Any thoughts welcome.

He and his boss gave me a bit of a run down of his history and he seems to have been in the commercial maintenance side of the business for a number of years, like 25/30.

Nice to hear grundfos stil recommend pumped return.

That suggestion was based on the situation after seeing a picture, not as a general thing but personally I see no difference whether its on F or R. F&V need to be different though.
