Hi all, I need to board my downstairs floor with new chipboard to bring the level of the existing property in match with the extension. I was thinking to use a laminate underlay 3mm on top of the old floorboard to avoid friction (and possible creaking) between the old and new floor and then put the chipboard perpendicular to the old floorboard. I'm going to use screw to fix the new board over the old one.

Do you think the underlay is fine to avoid possible friction and creaking between the boards?

Thank you

Roll PVA ( red container) on to glue the two boards together not an option?

Slightly off topic - you've probably thought of this already, but just to say it could be worth putting in cable ducts anywhere under the floor that you might need them in the future, before fixing the new flooring down, and always worth marking the chipboard with any cable/ pipe run locations.

Ok thanks everyone for the advice. I will glue and screw as you all suggested and put in some cable ducts for future use.
