New Combi Drill

Yeah I thought that it was the removable chuck which was what I was drawn to so I can use my normal drill bits with it to cut large holes since I already have the hole saws and quite a few bits.

Thanks I have been rooting around as well and I have found these which apparently are really good...

the X5L range. Have you had any dealings with them? They will be used for concrete / reinforced concrete and brick mainly I don't think I have anything which I will need them for big wooden things but I suppose I could get ordinary bits for that and then use the power of the drill to get through the wood if needed.

I presume that SDS drill bits will go into the SDS plus drill?

Thanks

James

I think SDS Plus is really what you get when you ask for SDS bits.
SDS Max, however, is something different and is incompatible with SDS/SDS Plus.

The bits you linked to I haven't used, but they look pretty similar to the ones I have (which are very good) and, I believe, anything Bosch can be trusted.

Thanks for the link it looks like your right SDS and SDS plus are interchangeable which is good I just wasn't sure if that was the case. I knew SDS MAX was on its own and not compatible with the others although it would have been useful if it was.

I have seen a lot of good reviews to the ones I linked to and I have seen a few video's where they were compared to various other drill bits and seemed to smash them out of the water.

Basically anything Bosch is a good bet then?

Thanks

James

In my opinion, yes. The blue (professional) products are the best, of course.

Forgive the stupid question but with drill bits how do you know they are blue bosch?

Thanks

James
I knew that question would come!
No, I was referring to the electrical tools, like drills, of which Bosch do the (superior) Blue and the (inferior) Green versions. Drill bits, and other such things, are not differentiated in that way.
Sorry for the confusion. In retrospect, I should have thought to put my point more clearly.

Ah yes I knew that I thought I had missed a trick with you saying about the drill bits.

Its alright don't worry just thought I was missing something obvious so figured I would ask ☺

Thank you all for your help.

James
