New Combi...how much can I do myself?

Dinger i was in the same situation as you had a combi that went south and was quoted silly prices for a new worcester to be fitted and that they could not do it for weeks.In the end i found a corgi plumber that would do the gas side for me,i did the water side,he checked my work and filled in the benchmark i saved a fortune on the boiler and other bits that where needed and the plumber got a days wages for 3 hours work!

I'm going to follow Tony's advice and politely go through options with some other fitters...see what they say.

Somewhere in there is a plan beneficial to all (ie my costs are low, and the pros get a quick job with good returns for the effort).

I'm sure I'll get shot down in flames by someone else now!
