However, when makers develop boilers than can modulate down to 0.5kW thermal store will be limited to specialist uses. As these uses are becoming more common as solar panels approach less than $1 per kW, cheap solar panels will accelerate thermal storage usage.

Now you know. Sweetie. ;)

I see that you are still making some VERY basic mistakes because you are trying to copy facts but doing it wrongly.

You would not do that if you actually worked in this field as it would all be second nature to you.

Thermal stores have no place with renewable energy, but buffer tanks or accumulators do.

There are differences, from heat exchanger sizes, levels of I dilation and number of tappings

If you want "nicety of control", take the weather out as your controller. Grossly outdated over-simple dumb mechanism and time it went. Thankfully manufacturers are finally moving towards more intelligent target-based control which the rest of industry has been using for decades.
If you must use a thermal store, or are using UFH, then the feed-forward (time delay) characteristic inherent in a garden sensor is a more relevant input.

How much difference it makes in efficiency, to use a boiler which never has to cycle, is something on which there's a paucity of evidence. Can anyone point to anything worth looking at? And no, I don't mean manufacturers' awful brochures. There's a tedious, continuous supply of ignorant people claiming all sorts of nonsense about it though.
