Would appreciate experiences and opinions...
I'm looking to replace all my old aluminum framed double glazed windows from the 1980's. Having looked around at options, the frames I prefer are aluminium (due to appearance and solidity). Has anyone experience of recent (2010 onwards) aluminium framed windows? Have the manufacturers improved thermal insulation of the frames? I have thermal efficiency values for entire aluminium framed windows but cannot find values for the frame alone.
I'm particularly interested to know if they suffer the problem I have with the older designs, namely condensation on the inside frame (and no, I really don't have excessive moisture in the house). My current aluminium windows have 'thermal breaks' (some sort of resin layer by the look of it) but frankly, they are pretty ineffective as inside frames are very cold to the touch when it's cold outside. Thanks.
