Motoring on with my loft conversion, clearly winging it is the only way for me. All going surprisingly well so far. Most of the main floor joists are down - all nice and level except a couple that are 5mm up or down in places due to a slight bows in the wood. The ends are bang on, just have a slight rock of the 6’ level when placed across.

Half of me was thinking of running the planer over, but I could end up chasing my tail. Does everyone get perfectly straight 4.8m lengths of 9x2 or do you just wait till the finished flooring goes on to bridge and level it up by itself?

normal practice bow up and lay flooring at 5mm ignore it the flooring will pull it down to zero or perhaps a 2mm difference so zero

Yes. Bow up. When I say up and down I meant those that were straight and those that were high….. giving the impression of high and low…

I always expect them to relax, if you plane them they might go to far the other way. Stack the flooring on them for a few weeks.
