New update ... It only knocks for around the first mile then becomes quiet , I noticed this when it wouldn't make the noise with the mechanic in the car .
Got a friend to check them and apparently they are good , he thinks one of the shocks is sticking . can you change a shock by yourself ? Or do you need specialist tools
No special tools needed as a rule. Give us a pic if you like of the top and bottom mounts......you'll need to jack under the subframe though to let the axle fall free.
I've never had a shock stick - unless it's become bent somehow!

Normally only spanners or a socket set required. You can't really check drop links unless you disconnect one end, that will allow any movement to be felt.
Never seen one stick either. I'd just change 'em for decent ones.
I know you would do this automatically John, but for the OP: Don't just rely on a jack if you're working anywhere underneath.
Personally I'd be perfectly happy with Spax, Koni, Monroe or whatever kit came my way courtesy of the motor factor but by all means use dealer stuff if you wish. The price will be quite a bit steeper, of course.
