Hello

Slight query about a new toilet I am fitting in my mum's place.

The toilet cistern won't reach the wall, so I have to use a wooden batten on the wall to screw it onto, or cut the soil pipe. WOuld what be the best in your opinions?

If I cut the soil pipe, will it split? Or will it be OK? It is an old cast iron soil pipe.

Thanks for your advice.

ok will do. Just worried incase I cut it wonky or it cracked then I'd be totally buggered. Will a normal hacksaw be sufficient?

even with an angle grinder, unless its a massive one you won't be able to get to the back of it. so you will have ot hacksaw some of it.

Just make sure you get it square!!

You only need to cut about halfway through. Gently knock a bolster or thin cold chisel in the cut and the rest will break in line.
