New Year Honours list

Yes, they do. Border Force escort them in then in no time they've got their feet up in a 4* hotel.

Now if they were turning the boats away and not enticing them with luxury accommodation, then you could say they're not waving them through.

The Govt will not publish a list of the hotels.

Local news will often report on 4 star hotels being used for this purpose.

It's a little dumb to suggest it doesn't happen.

Buildings that used to be 4 star hotels might be used, but do you you really think they will still provide 4 star services when turned into hostels?

Of course not.

Of course I don't, but of course I'm aware the owners will be receiving significantly more money than if they were offering a 4 star service, otherwise they wouldn't do it. I'm also aware that apart from charging a premium on 4 star prices they will also be building the cost of a full refurb into the price and compensation for re-establishing their reputation as a hotel that doesn't house migrants.

Or do you think they do it for charity?.

A half-empty hotel offering but unsuccessfully trying to find business or holiday guests won't make much money

If business is bad they will try to find some other source.

to me those that have a natural talent and well rewarded should get fewer browny points as it the least effort
its those going well over the odds on a constant basis often to a hardship level to themselves for the help or benefit off others they in general want no extra reward or help for there efforts 'they deserve much greater recognition

You're easily fooled

Any hotel that can be fully booked with it's normal quality clientele will keep doing that.

However the offer of guaranteed rates for a certain amount of time (even if lower than normal prices) can be beneficial.

If you don't know they are getting better rates than normal, it's very dumb to suggest it is the case.

You are aware the hospitality sector has been struggling for a while?

If that hotel had been well booked this statement from your link would not be true.....

One worker at the hotel said: ”It happened very suddenly at the end of last week when we were told that refugees would be arriving – and staying for up to two months.

not to mention the near impossibility of getting insurance for your business.

One wonders how many of the owners have certain political affiliations, or how many are happy to operate via 'brown envelopes'?

Fraud/ corruption is endemic in the UK when it comes to spending taxpayers money...

I believe the system is called 'mate's rates' ;)

How many more do you want? :giggle:

(Admitting my claims were correct and hitting the 'Thanks' button would be the fair-minded and correct thing to do. However I'm expecting furious back-pedalling and hair splitting instead.)
