why is it that newspapers are sold the length and breadth of the country for the same price is it because the price is actually printed on the paper and so therefore stopping any add on by newsagents P M
The newagents still make money on newspapers. About 15-20% i think. Wholesalers sells to newsagents at, say, 32p for a 40p newspaper. Otherwise a lot of shops wouldn't sell papers if they couldn't make money on them! Most of the price of a newspaper is distribution and printing costs - this is what you pay for. Most other costs are paid by advertising. Otherwise each paper would cost about £2.
