why is it that newspapers are sold the length and breadth of the country for the same price :?: is it because the price is actually printed on the paper and so therefore stopping any add on by newsagents :?: P M

What about them crystalball? I was agreeing with poshman. He asked if it was because the price is printed on the cover and I agreed.

I am puzzled  :?:

I paid 40 pounds once for Daily Mail

Mind you that was in Sharm el sheikh, Egypt

Still about £4.40 though

The newagents still make money on newspapers. About 15-20% i think. Wholesalers sells to newsagents at, say, 32p for a 40p newspaper. Otherwise a lot of shops wouldn't sell papers if they couldn't make money on them! Most of the price of a newspaper is distribution and printing costs - this is what you pay for. Most other costs are paid by advertising. Otherwise each paper would cost about £2.
