NIC board change

Just to throw my 2p in.

Not all NICEIC contractors are using the status to get away with sub standard work. It is only the rubbish bits that people remember. You are going to get rogues in every walk of life.

I will declare an interest on this subject. I work for a company which has full NICIC membership and also DI approval.

but is it worth it when u see the standard of work that is out there.

Er, yes? Of course. Pride in a good job & all that. Do you mean because everyone else you see is doing sh*t work, that you should just join in?

That's ridiculous!

Of course, it's NOT everybody else who is doing poor work.

Think about it, if you had a good job done you'd use that firm again, wouldn't you? So, as a spark plucked from the Yellow Pages or local rag, you're far more likely to encounter the rubbish.

And, with NICs dominance of the field over many years the odds are stacked that some of that work will have been done by less than scrupulous approved contractors. I see many more examples of atrocious work with no provenance whatsoever, much of it landlord-DIY. I also see a lot of horrendous householder DIY blamed on 'anonymous' so-called electricians. A NIC sticker on shoddy work is much rarer, but far more newsworthy.
