Last thursday a lady we had previosly done work for phoned and asked if we could change a light on the upstairs landing and a couple in her bathroom as the guy that she was going to use let her down. She is also have a big party next weekend so she needed it done by then. Get there on friday morning to discover the true work load:

Downstairs hall:

Change 1 light switch
Replace 1 light
Move 1 light and replace (downlight)
Install 2 new lights (downlights)

Upstairs hall:

Move 1 light switch the length of the hall
Move 1 light and replace (downlight)
Install 3 new lights (downlights)
Change to switches

Bathroom:

Move 1 light and replace (downlight)
Install 3 new lights (downlights)
Install mirror cabinet with integrated light

Got cracked on only to discover, three quarters of the landing floor had to come up - existing cables run across central heating pipes. Got insulation from the loft everywhere - even down the back of my trousers! The bathroom fitters were there so I was in their way. To top it off, at 4 yesterday, I was wrapping it up - just screwing the last floor board in place when water starts ****ing out everywhere - central heating pipe! Used an existing hole but a longer screw! Got a call today from the tiler there - the light fitting has melted and fallen off!!! Its a square spot with 2 screws holding a clear plastic plate. GU10 bulbs! Wish I had said no now!
