No confidence vote against TM as party leader

Elected? diynot.com's chief political commentator? Well, I suppose he thinks so.

Archbishop?

WTF does that have to do with democracy in politics? (n)
Sadly the clergy have a hand in maintaining our undemocratic political system...

"As senior members of the Church of England, which is the established church, some bishops are entitled to sit in the House of Lords. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Archbishop of York, the Bishops of London, Durham and Winchester and 21 other bishops in order of seniority together form the Lords Spiritual."

Why do you care?
I have children, family and friends that I care about. I'd like to see the UK prosper and not be part of some Tory bickering power struggle at a time when the UK needs sensible politics.

Over to you.....

If you look carefully, you'll observe that the top tier of the UK's ruling classes are frequently not elected to their positions.

'Ruling classes' ......a term often used by lefties.

That wasn’t a claim, that was a question you illiterate imbecile.

Was this ****/loser/gravy train passenger elected? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Kinnock
Because phrasing it the way you did made it look like a rhetorical question, not a straightforward one.

Particularly given that it was in response to

"It's not clear to which parts of the EU you object because they weren't elected."

But OK - it was a question.

You asking it means that you obviously don't know what the process is for forming the European Commission.

So it is still not clear to which parts of the EU you object because they weren't elected.

But it is becoming clear that you are making claims about it out of ignorance.

I'm not aware that he has made any claims to any form of democratic legitimacy or mandate, so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

But then I doubt that anybody is ever sure what point you are trying to make in any of your posts, including you.

You’ll thanks us in the end.
That's assuming of course that you believe that the correct way of 'thanking you' is akin to Auberon Waugh's way of 'thanking' Architects (y)

Pejorative term, used by those who can't / won't do it themselves, but like to snipe / scoff from the sidelines.

Look around you, Noseall: regardless of what you think of UKIP, they have changed the political landscape of the UK; remember the Brexit referendum?

The Beeb (among others) think that AfD will have a significant effect on Germany as well. Merkel will have to cobble together a coalition that will have fundamentally different viewpoints on important issues.
In turn, domestic issues will mean that Merkel will have less time or strength to support Macron's proposed reforms of the EU.

Sneering, scoffing, disdain for any concerns of parts of the electorate, and complacency of the ruling classes is what gave UKIP and AfD the boost-up they needed.
The referendum only happened because they thought Remain was already in the bag.

You are intelligent; don't fall into the default position of rounding on any post with "UKIP" or "AfD" in it; judge the situation on its merits.
