Having recently moved to a small Victorian cottage with a coal fired back back-boiler I am puzzled by the fact that the indirectly heated system seems to have no expansion pipe. The cold water feed from a tank in the loft joins the hot flow pipe (upper pipe) into the HW storage tank. There is no connection to the cold return. There are also 4 radiators driven by a pump - but no feed into or out of the loop.
The system works - but is it potentially dangerous?
thanks
