Hi there, I have recently experienced a problem with my boilermate2, when i turn on the hot tap i get 2 seconds of hot water then it runs tepid . I have checked the heating to see if there is any hot water and that seems to be working fine.It also makes a buzzing noise when the central heating is on, not all the time just at intermittent times and seems to be coming from the central panel. I have tried to contact various heating engineers but no1 seems to want to look at it or they change obscene amounts to come and look at it. Does anyone know a possible solution to this problem? Or do you know of an engineer that doesn't charge £75 an hour in the burnley area thanks in advance Martin.

I would expect it's a sensor problem, but it could be the DHW pump.

Just call Gledhill Tech Support - they'll talk you through a diagnosis.

I doubt gledhill will talk to you! They only talk to installers.

I would put my money on one of the pcb's behind the front plate that runs top to bottom (cream in colour I believe).

Very common fault, could even be the wires going to it loose and arcing.

Parts available easily.

the hot water problem will probably be the mixer valve. the plastic bits inside go brittle and break causing it to be permantly open to the cold side.

the buzzing is usually the pump pcb. be warned new ones can do the same thing straight out of the box.

Ah, quite right. I was confusing my Gledhills. This is the one with the Oventrop blender which, as nickso says, doesn't have an immensely long life.

This would make sense as i was adjusting this valve just a few days ago, it probably didn't like that, haha. have looked at prices does £110 seem a fair price for one of these valves?

pretty sure there are 2 relay pcb's on this model, may be wrong but had the same fault on a gledhill, is the buzzing like an alarm clock ?? if it is this is the fault I had, hard to test the pcb's though !! you may need to replace both.. approx 40 - 50 quid each though !! most common to go faulty is the pump 1 !!! so best try this one first

Yep that sounds about right, think ill put up with the noise for now as it only happens once or twice a day, gonna cost enough getting the hot water back. Thanks though

I don't see what the PCBs and pump have to do with the DHW heat exchange and blending valve.

If the store is up to temperature, and the coil isn't scaled up, and the DHW temperature is wrong, then surely it's the blending valve.

for his buzzing noise

The hot water and the buzzing noise are two separate problems(i think), the noise has been going on since i moved in (18 months ago) but only lost hot water yesterday. Oh man this is getting confusing

buzzing noise is the sticking relay on the board, very annoying but can be lived with for now . no hot water is a most likely a faulty blender valve, something you cant live without !!!
