No Hot water in Unvented system

Is that really the feed and expansion cistern for the heating cistern..it looks too big.
Post a few more pictures showing the float and water level, there should only be a single pipe coming near the bottom.
Hi.

Thanks for your help. See pictures attached. The bigger tank is empty and only seems to be an overflow of the smaller.
There is one pipe for water in, attached to the ball float, one pipe at the bottom going out.

So the smaller tank is feeding the boiler and heating system.
It should normally only have about 100mm of water in the bottom (the float arm is bend down) to prevent a higher water level.
Before you drained the system down you should have cleaned any muck from the tank to ensure it didn't get drawn into the system.
Have a look to see what state it's in and any sludge etc should be cleaned out being careful it doesn't enter the outlet pipe.
Once that is done you can bleed the radiators and the cylinder coil (there is normally a bleed point there too.
You should set the motorised valves to their open position using the manual levers on the side before bleeding.
Turn the gas off at the meter before starting the heating/hot water and don't turn it back on until the boiler/pump sounds quiet and free from air.

OK I'll have a look at that. Definitely some sludge I need to remove by hand when I go back up.
Also need to locate the bleed valve on cylinder coil.
Thanks for your help on this. It's hugely appreciated after my error

If I'm thinking of the right boiler, you'll need to bleed the heat exchanger on it before it will work properly.
