Shouldn't matter where in the UK they are, they can be used to gather water to be transported to wherever needs it.

Transporting water around the country is not really viable due to the low cost of the product, a water national grid wouldn't be finanally viable (that sort of thing only tends to be viable for more expensive things like oil) and I can't imagine that moving it by truck is any cheaper when you consider how much water there is, how heavy it is, how much fuel a truck uses, etc

i remember watching "Tomorrow's World" 20 years ago showing us a system that changed salt water into drinking water.i suppose that's ok on a small scale,But when your talking millions...who knows.will water in years to come be 90p a litre.....
---oh sorry it allready is....SUPERMARKETS..

I know someone bought a farm on the Mendips - Now bottling and flogging the spring water 20,000 bottles a week allegedly... Amazing really considering tis on a hill ... Where there is muck !!... ;)

Most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while is that near where my Mum lives in Cardiff is a massive reservoir. They now want to fill it in and build houses there

Personally, I would have said that we need more reservoirs, not less. Shouldn't matter where in the UK they are, they can be used to gather water to be transported to wherever needs it.

Maybe they could turn most of Shepton Mallet in Somerset into a huge reservoir. It seems to rain more there than anywhere else I've ever been!
Doing this all over the place .. Well, a few places anyway ! This may float yer boat...

And it may stop those smelly hippies descending on the place once a year.

If for every new build the put a sump under the proprty and diverted the roof water into it, with a simple filter and pump it could be used to supply water for flushing the loos and watering the garden at the very least.

Not just rainwater - grey water from sinks/dishwashers/washing machines/baths/showers - basically everywhere except from the toilet itself can be recycled for garden use, washing the car, flushing....

But there's no money in that for the water companies, is there....

For all you people in the South affected by this....you really should consider moving to the N.E. We've had enough rain in the last 24 hours to fill two resevoirs.
