Apparently, 786 is a special number in Islam. I found out from an Indian car dealer that I know. He had bought a right old ****heap of a van once and I told him he was mad. "No" he said, "With that number plate (786) I won’t have any trouble whatsoever selling it for a good price". He wasn’t wrong!

666 is sort of a lucky number to Chinese (Cantonese speaking). Apparently "six six six" sounds a lot like something propitious.
