NVQ level 2 plumber applying for gas

Not worth getting into gas these days OP. There are more out there than ever fighting over the scraps left by the nationals. Forget comparisons with other professionals, car cleaners, gardeners, dog groomers and path jet washers earnings leave gas engineers in their wake.

Fallout, I think it really depends what ACS you are going for, that determines what you need in your portfolio.

I could give you what BPEC need but couldn't be sure if that's is the same with every other awarding body.

My advice would be to establish what awarding body you would be using and go from there.

Thanks it would be so can complete new builds that include a combi boiler and a gas hob

It's not necessarily what you intend to do when gas safe, that is covered by the modules you sit as part of the ACS -

Everyone does -
CCN1 - This is the core domestic gas qualification

Specific modules - These determine what else the ACS will cover and what critera you need to meet -
CENWAT – Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters
CPA1 - Flue Gas Analysers
CKR1 – Cookers
HTR1 – Space Heaters - Gas Fires and Wall Heaters, etc
MET1 - Meters
DAH1 - Warm Air Space Heaters
etc

You need to establish who you will be doing your ACS with and they will then specify exactly what jobs you need to cover in your portfolio

Thanks, has a portfolio always been needed or is this a fairly new thing?

Are you saying its not much more money for a lot more responsibility?

I'll be honest, the day that a path jet washer or car cleaner makes more than me a year, I'll hang up me tools :)
