Not been on here for years and surprised I could still log on. Anyway, for a long time I have been using Dulux satin wood water based for internal woodwork in the house but it doesn't last long. My hands are always dirty and so the doors always have to be wiped down to keep them clean and in no time at all the paint has been rubbed through and needs painted again.
Not keen on oil based paint as white turns yellow I believe. Just wondering if modern oil based satin wood paint would turn yellow and if not what would be the best brand name to go for. I believe oil based paint will last longer and is tougher than water based?
Thanks for any advice.

Skin oil with softer some waterbased paints. Water-based alkyds better resist this or using a product like rock top over will help protect paint.

Can you not install finger plates to doors?

Sorry but not sure if I don't understand your answer or auto correct is playing havoc. Finger plates would have to be enormous and really what needs to happen is for me to use the door handles.
