just been out to a smelly old boulter oil boiler tonight, and i just cant get rid of the smell off my hands..lol

I have been in both the Oil & Gas Industry for many years...Peronally I'd AWAYS go Oil..for several reasons
(1) if Oil prices go low you fill up the Oil tank..Then If the oil prices sky rocket (as they do occasionally) then you still have oil, with gas if they put up the prices then you pay!!!
(2) Gas is far more dangerous to have..(when was the last time you heard of a house blowing up because of a oil boiler? )
(3) When Oil & Gas run out (which they will eventually) there is NO substitute for gas..but ALL oil boiler manufacturers are already looking at running Oil Boilers on biofuel
(4) Oil Boilers are more reliable, easier to service, & last longer than Gas boilers..yes the old Potterton Kingfisher gas boiler will last 30 years, but there are more Oil boilers over 30 years than there is Gas boilers Over 30 years

Why do you not do as we do; CF oil boiler running on Red Derv....................Cheap as chips!!!

Just buy an old tractor & they(Nazi UK Government) can't do a thing about it..............

Don't need a tractor...just buy "Gas Oil"!!!! but you have to make sure that the boiler CAN run on gas oil.....

Easier to service? You have got to be kidding. Filthy baffles (x2 if its a condenser), new nozzle, clean photocell, smoke test, gas analyser, filter change, fannying around with Crosland bowl seals 10mm from the dirt. New hose(s).

Stinky horrible Kerosene.

How can that be easier than gas?

Filthy baffles???? then its not set up right :D, & if youre changing the filter every year I'd be getting the tank checked for crud!!!
Admittedly just sticking a flue gas analyser in teh gas flue is easier than the servicing of Oil but I was referring to the old gas boilers!!! cleaning the fiddly injectors!!!

That's got to be one of the least informed posts i've ever read on here!!
Gee Sorry I wasnt clear enough for you... so here let me put it in capitals for you
MOST OIL BOILERS RUN ON KEROSENE HOWEVER SOME BOILERS CAN BE CONVERTER TO RUN ON GAS OIL,CHECK MANUFACTURERS FOR THEIR SPECIFICATIONI hope that was clear enough for you
