Don't forget that excessive oil pressure can cause oil seals to fail and "wash" the white metal from the crank bearings!

Yes, but it usually blows the oil filter seal off first, it will be interesting to see the pistons and the way they go up and down. Apart from that no need to take the engine down.

Would the oil viscosity be a little out of specification?

But to get the seals to blow i seem to recall the pressure was about 12bar depends on filter. You should not blow seals but worse case the increased pressure applies slightly more pressure to the seal lip so overheats the lip more, so wears quicker, but not so you would notice.

when I used the design oil pumps ( few years agos so figures rusty)
under simulated engine conditions the pressure can go up from idle quick, but most pumps i built tested once the rpm was about 2500 the pressure went up very little.
The Jag XK8 pump would pump say 15ltrs/min at 1000rpm this would be 1.5bar 3000rpm is 3.5bar and 20 ltrs but at 6000rpm on the engine it would generate 3.5bar and only about 35ltrs. under the rig at 6000rpm you would bet 0.1bar and about 85ltrs/min.

Yes, I am in my sixties, and the engine rebuild I refer to was around forty years ago! I still remember the price for a rebore, crank regrind, shells, pistons and gaskets. £27.84!
