bet you get invited to loads of parties Joe , happy go lucky bundle of laughs type of guy
well, there is a slightly different slant on this admittedly rather protracted and oft revisited subject. The main problem with oil running out is not to do with energy, which frankly using oil to produce is criminal, it's that oil is an extremely useful chemical soup used to produce all sorts of stuff. But I'm on the optimists side, yeah things will change, going abroad will be an adventure again, stuff will have to be made out of sustainable materials such as wood. World populations will have to change, either by our doing, or nature in it's infinite wisodom will force that upon us. So yeah life will change, but the one thing about human kind is we are adaptable, it's why we are supposedly top to the tree.
You can't be serious about using wood. It's laughable.

Where are you going to grow all this wood? How long will it take to grow? How much energy will it take to process? How cheap will it be? Great for building - but useless as a fuel - and it's fuel that we need.
Joe.... you are a lost cause.
We will find more oil (and coal) with advances in technology. We have barely touched the surface on extraction of fossil fuels. They are not running out, merely a bit more difficult to extract. To be able to venture one more mile under the North Sea will produce 90 percent more Natural Gas THAN WE HAVE EVER USED.
No scientific ground breaking law defying there Joe, just basic engineering advances. The same has been PROVED for Oil and Coal in there respective locations.
Gas can be made - its been done before and still continues. (Look at the Isle of Man).
To say you are narrow minded is an understatement!
Why not start on global warming? It will be a bit more refreshing than this oil debate we are all tired of.

Joe seeing as your a merchant of doom i doubt you would get them.
If you say so.
But then again you say no major oil finds since the 60`s
That would be ignoring the one in Brazil in 2008 that has estimated reserves of 33 billion barrells making it the worlds 3 rd largest.
Or the one in gulf of mexico with 15 billion barrells that increased the US reseves by 50%
god you didnt look on the internet for that did you. Thats Joes trick!
