Old Baxi Boiler not firing!

Not in reference to this job........ But Wrong back boilers can be fitted and are not ILLEGAL this is a mis conception but they must meet a points system and pass a thousand points which is not really that hard.

In all the cases I have tried I have been unable to HONESTLY reach this figure!!

I love BBu"s (how do you do an apostrophe?) .

I have spent half of my working life installing and maintaining them!

In all that time I have never managed to kill any one, So why all the negative comments from all the "experts"?

People are always afraid of things they do not understand!!! ;)

I am with you on that one terry back boiler is a perfectly safe appliance, easy to work on built to last and piece of cake to fix what is the most efficient and cost effective a BBU that lasts 25 years with minimal parts req or 2 condensing boilers that will more than likely need several visits during it`s far shorter life span. Faceless suits can make figures look like people are going to save the planet and a fortune.

Should have added points not hard in certain properties

Yes it's a long green resistor, I guess then if that's gone, or the valve has gone then I'm really in trouble. Can I simply wire out the resistor if it's not working (I've been told the reduction in voltage was to stop radio interferance).

I have the same back boiler and had the same problem with the resistor burning out, the valve works on 120V AC and the resistor was used to drop the mains voltage down. I just used an external 240v-120v 1 Amp output transformer and used this to power the valve, it has been working like this for at least 15 years.

The GC numbers are correct 30-44 077 08 was Boiler 30 at 39000 Btu/hr and 40-44 077 06 was boiler 40 at 52000Btu/hr

Not being able to open this boiler up to clean it is a real pain though.
