The manufacturer has responded and said the nicks on the pipes above is acceptable and not damage, i should clean them up with a webbed abrasive pad before fitting a new olive. Their own webpage says this tool does not damage pipe and a reliable cut every time.
Any advices on how I should proceed would be appreciated. Was not happy with their response.
Try rotating the cutter as you squeeze the handles together. I have used Monument splitters for many years with good results, but if not held square to the pipe that sort of nick is possible.
