Oh, I don't know. Even Sviatoslav Richter (one of the greatest concert pianists of the 20th century) claimed that his hearing had lost half a tone through age. And from personal experience I listen to pieces which sound off-key, but when I put my hearing aids in to equalise the level of sound entering my head, the same music sounds fine.
So joe may well have a point - given the number of people that vote for the "singers" on the X-factor, he may well have a very good point in fact

give over... Joe's not making the same informed, educated, reasonable point that you are... Joe just think's he always right, and anyone who disagrees with him is wrong... after all, we are only talking about peoples' opinions here!

Regardless of the technical merit of each performance, it's impossible to say whether one interpretation is "preferable" to another in anything other than personal terms. The guitar piece doesn't do much for me and probably wouldn't even if it weren't shopped, but the piano is an instrument close to my heart for many reasons.

Joe... this stemmed from you saying "everyone's seen this" - well clearly they haven't. And then you said it's awful... well you may think it is.. but i and toptec, and others thought it quite good... and that's our opinion... don't tell us that you know how it's done so we're wrong and we shouldn't like it.... (or whatever the words were)... but the point is, you being a 'brilliant' guitarist doesn't stop me liking a piece of music that you know was over/under/sideways dubbed 7 times with pre-amped, reverb altered, digitally reverse mastered in 4gmpeg audio...
my opinion is still as valid... i haven't seen it before, and i thought i was quite good.
