But they’ve not bought those businesses to close them down have they?
Having foreign companies buy out UK businesses, seems to me an example of the UK losing control.

Not taking back control.
Please do correct me if you think you have a valid alternative understanding (y)

Dunno whether you are in business or just a wage slave but hanging on to a money losing business is just foolish. Better to sell it on. Even better if you can sell it to some soppy foreigner. Nothing to do with taking back control.

To be fair, once a company goes public, anyone can buy their shares, even foreigners, if they opt to purchase a majority holding, they can make a play for the company, even if they're foreign, and if they have the capital, they can make an outright bid for the company in the form of a takeover or outright purchase, even if they're foreign.

Notch, do you have something against foreigners?

Why do think these are businesses losing money?

"Hong Kong billionaire to buy UK pub group Greene King"

Excuse me, but doesn’t that show confidence in Britain? Why is that Hong Kong billionaire not investing wisely in EU countries, especially with Brexit looming. Perhaps he knows something the four musketeers don’t?

Gosh, you havent thought this through have you

You think it takes confidence to buy something after the price has dropped by 25%?

Maybe it just takes an eye for a bargain.

But it’s going to drop another 75% after Brexit according to you lot isn’t it?
Does it say that in Operation Yellowhammer? You know the one? I'll remind you - it's the one the Tory government had prepared to highlight all the problems associated with a no-deal departure from the EU. Perhaps that's what you meant when you said 'you lot' i.e. the Tory government boyo.
