Have a look at the metal tiles effect roofing sheets which is acceptable on 10 or 12 degrees pitch,

I have this below on my summerhouse with the 10 degrees pitch,

They comes in 1 metre wide and I think it was 6 metre in lenght but I think they do do it longer but if you give them the correct lenght they will pre-cut it for you. You can hear the heavy rain on them but if you still got flat roof underneath should help or maybe put in thicker insulation in

but need to know the angle of your roof pitch first

masona, those tiles look interesting. Are they suitable for walking on, incase I need to gain access to the bay window for maintenance etc?

masona, ive taken some measurements for calculating the angle.

The diagonal along the slope of the tiles is 267cm
The vertical is 45cm

I cant measure the horzontal dimention yet as access is difficult.

If the rise (vertical) is 450mm and the hypotenuse or slope is 2670mm then this gives a going (horizontal) of 2630mm.

From this i have calculated the pitch to be 9.7 degrees.

I like the look of this stuff; I have a bit of a problem coming up next spring here at home when I need to replace a crap polycarbonate roof on a half way house between a carport & garage. I was contemplating a new tile over truss pitch roof replacement but this may fit the bill & certainly worth a look at in the in the flesh; good links masona

Thanks for the calculation noseall, my maths wasnt quite up to it.

So I guess my suspicions were correct in that it was a complete bodge by the previous occupants.

Similar products are on McDonalds outlets and i think youre allowed a 1200mm centre truss span unless its been changed since i first looked at this stuff,many years ago,i didnt trawl the link so maybe on there.They use to reckon you could get a complete "average" house roof in an escort van.

I've used plywood over the roof rafters then roofing felts + tiles effect metal sheets on top to allow me to walk on the flat part of the metal sheet

Found the details when I tidying my office, they are also known as Interlocking Roof Tiles

Ive since had some roofing companies round to look at my roof and it seems I need to completely remove the pitched roof, and have a flat roof instead, which I guessed might be the case.

Ive had a look under the pitched roof and discovered that an old flat felted roof is still there, the felt & chipboard need removing but the ceiling joists seem ok.

But is hasnt got any vapor layer (perhaps because of its age). With modern flat felted roofs, where would a plastic vapour layer normally be fitted?
