First reports are that he held his wife as a shield in front of him, as a hostage, but was shot in the head.

By American standards of friendly fire, I severely doubt that happened, they can't save hostages, for want of blowing them up themselves..

A bit of propaganda, to boost Obama (the US president), not Osama (The evil head of SPECTRE, out to kill 007)...Osama was just a figurehead of an organisation, NOT the mastermind behind the blowing up, killing and maining.
