The outside gully that takes only kitchen sink and machine washer water became blocked. I rodded it to death with coiled wire type as the U bend is tight and high pressure hosed it, and chemical cleansed it, I felt as far as my hand would reach but there was simply nothing there.
My wife wanted to plunge the gully so I said just push up and down OMG F*ck it gurgled and belched and bingo it cleared, NOTHING came up so god knows what went down. PLEASE...... anyone knows what did it move that rods/hose/chemicals couldn't, I can't live with her smugness.

A physical restriction?

As rodding/power washers only push a restriction further down it can sometime plug it up even more unless using worm types screw ends to chop things up first. Chemicals are really a last resort and only work on certain things or in certain circumstances.

Plungers are really good as they work by pulling and pushing things the way they went in and agitate everything and that can free things up quicker. Hence why they have been around for so long, sometimes the simplest tried and tested things work best.

Cheers Rob, I think you've got a point ("sometimes the simplest tried and tested things work best") but that's no way to talk about my wife ;)
Thanks again Rob All the best

If you had fat, or something similar, the coil just pushes through it and it reseals itself when you retract the coil.
