I am unable to find it now, but out of curiosity I followed the link to do the same test as used by the McGuiness family, whom Paddy recently found out his entire family, apart from him, were on the spectrum.

Having done the test myself, sort of half heartedly, it seems I am too, but at the very lower end of the spectrum. Autism, once upon a time was simply never heard of, because it was never diagnosed as such, but I am being constantly surprised by the numbers of youngsters who I'm told are on the spectrum.

It's one of the many feigned, grossly exaggerated or completely made up conditions affected in order to claim state benefits.

I don't understand how people claim to have "undiagnosed" autism. How can they know they have it if it's not been diagnosed?

Similarly, I don't understand how people with no symptoms go for a covid test!

Apparently most of society has some autistic tendencies in them, more so when they are children, they usually decrease as people age.

I think it's only really an issue if it has a dramatic effect on ones ability to enjoy a "normal" lifestyle.

Sir g is right it's over diagnosed these days along with ADHD, people like labels so they have a reason not to deal with the issue. With children it's often used as a tool for parents not to bother bringing their kids up correctly.

A guy at work his son is basically a little poo, swears at his parents, aggressive to teachers and others in school, yet gets away with whatever he wants and my colleague always make sure they have the latest games consoles (had the ps5 on release day) and whatever games they want, expensive clothes etc etc.

I have said to him do you think he deserves to have all these things if he's behaviour is so bad? He said he didn't see why he should punish his son by stopping him having what he wants.

A couple of weeks later he said he took his son to see a doctor and the doctor diagnosed him with ADHD and he was finally glad they were able to put a label and reason on his behaviour.

I said I don't think it's that it's more likely your poor parenting.. he didn't talk to me for a couple of weeks.

Whether my son had ADHD or autism they wouldn't be getting away with blue murder, I understand there is a requirement to alter ones parenting style, but they still need to learn wrong from right.

And like dislexia, it supports a whole diagnosis- and 'treatment' industry.

I know a few people with autistic kids, and it's certainly not made up. You should spend some time with autistic people then you might realise what a bloody stupid thing that is to say.

Me and Mrs Secure did the test.

She got a really low score, mine was sky high.

Agreed there is varying degrees of autism, some severe some mild.

I think the issue is there is an over enthusiastic desire to label as many people as possible with something, which dilutes the real struggle of those with severe cases

Very true, we are being turned into a population of hypochondriacs, all for the benefit of vested interests.

Yes, everybody would be better off without the malingerers.
