That 'chopper' he's doing his charity ride isn’t a proper chopper. It has a raised, padded gel saddle and the gears have been moved up to the handlebars. He might as well be doing it on a Brompton. Still, I couldn’t do 300 miles in 4 days on one of them. I’ve only done about 200 on a bike I’ve had for ten years and approx 125 of them were done after I converted it to electric!

Good for him. I coveted a Chopper bike in '75. So c00l. Then i rode a friends bike around for a while and couldn't get any torque for climbing the big hill nearby. Got me a Dawes racer instead. Five-speed, and one size too big. Had to leap into the saddle, literally, and start peddalling pronto otherwise i'd fall off.

The gears used to be on the frame (?). I remember one new in the bike shop at £25, the 50cc moped next to it was £21. A racing bike with 21 speeds was “only” £12.

I had radio 2 on for a little bit yesterday. Vernon was getting chocked up.

Good on Paddy. He was saying his knees are shot now.

I have missed a lot of his charity bike ride as I have been off work with a chest infection.
Not to worry, they will drone on about it for the next month or so, like they do with everything else so I won't have missed much :)

I too had an original chopper, it was great until one day I returned home to find that my supposed best mate and my eldest sister had
painted it in gloopy black paint then with even drippier yellow paint, painted "the cat" on it.
Looked a right mess, I cannot remember what happened to it after that but I don't think I rode it much from then on.

What a waste, thanks Steve & Sue :(

:) :)

I can't stand the talentless ****, I wish he'd feck off.
I’m not that keen on him. He has his moments but what p1sses me off with him is he tries too hard to come across as your average common or garden Bolton man. I can remember a few years ago watching a programme on Bentleys being made and sometimes the people who have purchased one get to go to the factory to see them being built and I can specifically remember the bloke being interviewed dropping a few names of people who have been up to see their new Bentleys being built and Paddy McGuinness was one of those mentioned. Average Bolton man my arse!
