I've built walls clad with recycled wine boxes, ceilings made from rough sawn planks (lightly sanded to remove splinters but leave the character), stuff deliberately aged and distressed, shabby-chic, etc - for work. I appreciate how effective this can be, but at home my own tastes are a bit more staid and possibly influenced by the style of house i live in
I get you, when i told friends about this, they where a bit taken back too. I did a bit of research on how it may look, and the mrs (the boss) felt it was nice. She seems very happy lol.
I think it is okay because this is a flat with a large lounge area. I would have prefered the walls to be white though.
What style of house do you live in?
If it falls off the wall then it's not sturdy enough..... A lot of the stuff along these lines that I've done it's been a case of fixing timber battens to the wall surface (to form a stable ground) then nailing using 16ga pins. BTW if you ever need to fix a lot of panel pins and don't want to nail, go looking for a second hand rampin (pushpin) tool
Lol, as long as it falls off when i am there, and not on the TV, the cat or one of the others that visit or live in the house lol.
Its Seems quite sturdy for the moment. On a long drive north, i was making my self feel better by doing some rough calculations in my head:
50 KG over 5 Battons = 10KG a batton.
10 KG over 5 Screws per batton = 2KG per screw.
This seems reasonable.
Oh yes, i also worked out i think they put one or two studs in then dot and dabbed the plaster board in place!! :S
The lamp made me think of this:
ps is it a real cat
Lol, yeah, it was one of my mad purchases. I love it. I was going to get a normal size one to put near it.
Yup the cat is real. That was just after she was sizing her self up to see if she can reach the plants!
