Panic and scare mongering

There are two very valid conversations about the coronavirus going on: the first is that it is not any more deadly than any other flu-like viruses, and the other is that lack of healthcare and worker protections in the US make any communicable illness more dangerous.

example:
In the U.S., a patient checked himself to the hospital on possible coronavirus symptoms ended up with $3,000 charge of treatment bill & negative result. He is now struggling how to pay it

The situation in Washington State is interesting (if awful for those affected). Spuriously high death rate due, presumably, to lack of testing and subsequent under-reporting. Which, in turn, suggests that their containment bus has long gone. Where will they be in a month's time?

In the US system externalities are magnified. Poor and sick people who cannot afford healthcare incubate and spread the virus. This passes a cost onto everyone else who have to combat the spread through changes in our daily life, purchasing extra goods and services. So costs are higher.

From your article.

The ambulance company that transported the Wucinskis, American Medical Response, charged the family $2,598 for taking them to the hospital.

Reminds me of this horror story.

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/07/03/health/subway-accident-insurance-fear-trnd/index.html

She begged people not to call the ambulance as she coudn't afford it even though she had a job and insurance.

Thats not a system or standard anyone with a functioning brain should aspire to.

I think your missing the point perhaps. Lockdowns are specific and short lived. The outbreak highlights how those countries with an integrated public health system and labour laws have better tools to react to such situations.

I think you're missing the point, perhaps.

Integrated health systems and labour laws cannot hope to begin to cope, if the containment is ignored and the infection rates go as high as feared (80+%).
Containment has to be the primary line of defence: indeed, effective containment would pretty much negate the need for the other two approaches.

No, I use it when you post lies. You stated "you come to the defence of pervs regardless.. "
That is a lie.

Quit lying. It's an RWR tactic and it does not work.

The irony

Air Dryers in Public Toilets
Before this virus hit the news, my own hand washing regime was minimal in public toilets (now i am super careful, even avoiding public toilets where ever possible). I suspect I am not unusual in this area.
If an asymptomatic infected person goes into a public toilet and does not wash hands thoroughly, then uses the air dryer, they will send a plume of airborne droplets containing the virus into the air for the next unlucky person to breathe in.
Avoid air dryers.
Virus is present in the stools
If the toilet doesn't have a seat and many public toilets do not, flushing the toilet sends another plume of airborne droplets, potentially containing a huge viral load, into the air for the next person to breathe in.

Bottom line, avoid public toilets as much as possible

It's OK Ryler. We are all liers it's the new black. Via Orange

Twice now I've been accused of being someone else over on plumbing the minute I mention unvented cylinders. And subjected to a tirade of abuse.:ROFLMAO:
