an indian guy just rang said he was from scottish power and wanted an electric meter reading.
He wanted to know my hubby's date of birth and I gave him it.

Now Im worried that I shouldnt have done it.

I cant find a number to ring and check if this call was genuine or not.

Is this the norm do you know??

why don't you do a ring back, regarding the indian chap im not surprised about that, the main office most prob be over there ( india ) don't have to pay as much.

Don't know about the D.O.B. BIT

I have done 1471 and it says the caller withheld their number.

I have rang the bank number off the back of my cashcard and told them what happened.

I have rang scottish power and they cant tell me if it one of their callers or not cos they only work until 7pm so I have to ring back tomorrow.

I cant hubby... he is at work and is busy with a person.

With a bit of luck you may have just ordered a Rogan Josh and Poppadoms

you buggers... Im seriously worried.
I shouldnt have given his date of birth and he is always getting stuff off ebay...
The bank say its ok, we are not liable now but bloo dy h ell... scottish gas should be able to tell me if they have rang or not.

I Know.. I know.. I shouldnt have given his date of birth...

If the only thing you have given is your husband's date of birth, then don't worry about it. Its freely available from the electoral rolls anyway, so is hardly secret.....

Don't worry Toffee he's probably been lying to you about his age all along.

what were you expecting?

Was there a pause before he picked his phone up? (you pick up, then a few seconds before he talks ie. autodialer)

Toffee I am actually in a position to look into this for you. All I need from you before I start my enquiry are your vital statistics and a colour photo would be helpful. Oh yes and your credit card number as well.

oooh I know...
and all i did give out was his date of birth...
if they had asked for bank details i woulnt have given them.
In future Im saying nothing.

"Caller withheld their number" means it came from a UK number.

"Number not available" means came from overseas.

I've been getting sales people on my studio phone and the other day someone asked if I was the house holder I said sorry this is a lifeboat station and they said sorry and put the phone down.

it was with held. I give up now.
I rang my bank, they werent interested really.. said ring back after you have rang scottish power tomorrow.. said I had cover on my account for fraud anyway.
Not the only point really...
scottish power arent bothered... ring back between 9 and 7.

So , if someone is going to have a field day on our account... the only person who seems concerned is me. ( not referring to you people here, I mean the bank etc)
