None answer in what way . Attempt to explain the upskill needed in regards to why they asked reg and given permission to not work on them . .you have made a statement so attempt to back it up . Or just be honest and admit you haven't got a clue and just bumped your gums .

It's not all down to lack of skill, much of it, is the way they failed to plan it, and implement it properly - it has been a total shambles, start to finish, but forced on them, to do it this way by the gov... It should have been compulsory, they should have foreseen the comms issues, they could have used the existing internet, as a workaround, to solve many of the issues.

And as for folk in my bracket (living solo, already quite frugal with energy usage) I can guarantee the financial advantages wouldn't be exceptional

That would be entirely your choice, your decision. As a percentage discount on your bills, then if you appreciate being frugal, then an SM would be the way to go. You obviously are not being that frugal, or you would appreciate the advantage a SM could give you, and grab one with open arms.
Me, I do live frugally and take full advantage of anything which puts more in my pocket.
The issues were not SM/analogue meter specific. In fact the more contentious issue of entering homes and changing the analogue meters to pre-pay, was what fuelled the scandal.

If I told you the author of the article was a respected, award winning, Cambridge educated economics journalist, with 20+ years of high end media experience, would it make a difference?
so to save 1000 quid a year what was your actual bill before hand who is your provider and what were your unit rates ?

You told me the figures I produced for (per household) SM rollout were rubbish. Perhaps you are suggesting net gains are more then £250?
I doubt that the costs will be less than £30 - £70, but you are welcome to surprise me? Go on, what are your costs breakdown?
