Philip Green did nothing wrong but paid people £1million each.

I would question that that is the correct definition.

The prefix 'miso' means hate, so the definition has been - what's the correct word? - modified(?) incorrectly like many words today to cater for the common misuses by prejudiced groups - much like 'semitic' and 'phobia'.

Looking at the etymology of the word its from 17th century Greek for hatred of women. So how much has its use actually changed?

There are lots of words used wrongly these days.
Whether it is out of ignorance (true meaning) or just another example of the politics of confusion is difficult to say.

There was my recent thread about a Chief Constable who had declared misogyny to be a hate crime.
This is clearly nonsense but I don't think anyone pointed this out - except me.

He can declare what he likes but is misogyny actually on the statute books?

Or is it simply too hard to prove?

To prove misogyny wouldnt you have to link cause and effect not just correlation.

It was a she actually. Make of that what you will.

No, of course it is not on the statute books. Hating women is not a crime any more than is hating Corbyn.

It is irrelevant.

Anyone who commits a crime will be convicted of that crime regardless of whether they hated the victim or not.
If they do not commit a crime they will not be convcted of anything whether they hate someone or not.

I think it's more a power imbalance which manifests in inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour which can border on the criminal.

Power corrupts.
That's kind of what I meant, I just wasn't as succinct :)
Watch out, you'll be accused of being an apologist too.

If a misogynist is someone that hates women, why would he grope them?

If I hated them I wouldn't want to touch them, let alone get one in a headlock.

You sound like you’re talking from experience. You’re not one of 'em are you ......
what is one of 'em?

I've been involved indirectly a while back in a grievance which turned in to a claim, where a person said to one of his directs, upon taking over an existing team and being faced with a less than satisfactory answer to a question - "did you get this job because you've got bit t**s?" (exact words changed). In his defence, she'd been going on about her new boob job all week.

Slam dunk - statutory discrimination with uncapped damages. That employee walked with about £750K

Everyone plays the cards they have when the chips are down, be it sex, race, etc. When the perp' is a senior exec, then the lawyers press an argument that it is the culture of the company. most middle managers would get torn to shreds in a tribunal, so you get faced with a choice of paying up vs. sacking half your management, having to roll out remedial action and getting your brand trashed.. and still paying up.

No doubt the sexist attitude is unacceptable, but did it cause £750k's worth of distress?

Please answer my question re: Kevin Spacey.
Since there is no equivalent terminology, the alleged crimes would be of sexual assault...
There is no evidence that KS targetted men because of hatred, but because of his particular sexual preference...

Green on the other hand it appears humilated women simply because they were women, and racially abused black people simply because they were black..

So then, do you think Trump is also not a misogynist?

He might fancy women, it seems likely he doesnt respect them.....but I doubt he respects anybody or anything -he is a thoroughly unpleasant individual.

Could equally have been the case that, as Notch posted, he did what he did because he (thought) he could. I suspect he has bullied people of all genders, colours, and dispositions, as and when it suited him.

Yes there is, it's called misandry.
I stand corrected

Thus all of those labels fit him...

They are not mutually exclusive!
