Phone signals

Turn your 3G off. Phone will try And use that for calls and on O2 the coverage is ****.

I've turned off iMessage and 3G. Calls and reception are much better.

Does anyone else think that the problem is that their are just too many people using the signals? phones, pcs, ipods, ipads, sat navs, tvs, tablets, Hudls, macs, etc etc. Surely the air waves are congested by now.

Aren't those mainly wireless devices?? rather than mobile devices? Different spectra? not that I am by any means an expert in these matters.

Thanks for the useful tips guys :) Soz for not getting back sooner but life got in my way...

So basically with 3 if you’re not on a One Plan, (which I’m not), you can get an ‘add on’ for tethering which will cost an extra £5 per month. This is for just 1 Gb; anything over that and you get stung.

My friend was using a Huaweaiuei mobile modem thingy and buys a 3 Gb for 3 months at £12 but, thanks to my questioning, he’s found out that deal isn’t available at that price anymore. The cheapest is now £19 per month unless you buy a whole year’s worth!

Basically, the price of getting on-line is becoming silly. I think, on reflection, I’ll say ball-locks to it and just do everything on my mobile with the all inclusive monthly plan I have for that. I’ve got the AVG for mobile phones app installed; if that’s enough for banking security... (Is anything these days?).

From the admittedly limited amount of research I've done I don't think any mobile broadband is very good value for money. I had naively thought with 4G we could all ditch our landlines and simply tether to our mobiles, sadly cost wise this looks prohibitively expensive.

In my experiance mobile internetseriously SUCKs compared to even a poor ADSL connection. I'll tolerate it when i'm on the go but there is no way i'd want it as my primary connection.

In effect, we are all being forced to be on-line kicking and screaming towards a paperless society, yet the cheapest broadband you can get which is worth having is near enough £20 per month. They’ve got you by the short and curlies! This is a lot of money to many if us. (Not to mention the insecure transactions and shenanigans of 21st century living).

Maybe I’m supposed to be able to go to my local library to log in and do it all, or buy a tablet and conduct my personal business at Costa using The Cloud.

I think I know what my friend meant when he said he wished he was back working on a Kibbutz cleaning chicken $hite off eggs...

Pah!

My Mobile Phone gets a great signal if I go to the bottom of the Garden and climb up a tree !!

Internet Broadband is also great, although racing pigeons can deliver a message a lot quicker.

So Much for modern technolgy

My sentiments too Bosswhite.

I wonder if people who get on well with their neighbours ever club together and use one connection between three households...

Ah, cheers for that.

I once met a girl from the Far East whose name was phonetically pronounced 'Uh'. (Never saw it written down). Beat that...? ;)

Oh, and the woman at my local Co Op is from Vietnam pronounced 'Hwa' a bit like whoa. I'll make a note of her badge next time :)

But aren't you then paying for internet services that you can no longer use?
Balls to keep toggling 3G on and off..........
