The trouble is familiarity leads to complacency. Asbestos is still the greatest single cause of work-related deaths in the UK.
Five sparks and three plumbers are diagnosed with Asbestosis, Mesothelioma and other asbestos-related lung disease every week and it's not going to peak until around 2015.
Last week one of my regular subbies was diagnosed with Mesothelioma at the age of 55. He had a relatively low exposer some 30 years ago and although he has looked after himself and saved for the future, he now has very little time left.
That isolator should be turned off and locked shut until those flash pads have been properly removed- it's not worth playing "Russian Roulette" with Asbestos
