Pigeons in loft?.

Don't block up the eaves re ventilation if that is where they were getting in. Use a comb device or a proprietary net which allows things to get out but stops them getting in. I was looking at something like this when I thought I had a bat problem.
I had horrendous problems with dead pigeons in a void between a ground floor and 1st floor in a hospital where I used to work. I had a chap go in and bag about 150 of them, many already dead. The problem was the mites that lived on the dead ones. Once the pigeons had been disposed of the bloody mites escaped onto the orthopaedic ward above, not a good result. A spray with an insecticide cured it quickly. Glad you managed to sort it.

Cheers Pete, they were getting in through a missing tile on the roof, now replaced.

The insulation was packed tight to the eaves, good tip re ventilation, will have a think about that.

I might get pest control back in when it's all clear and get them to fumigate it again as well.

Did the final push today, another 5 hour stint.

All shovelled up and bagged up, just need to go back in with vacuum cleaner and get the dust up.

Took a before picture but by the time I'd finished I just wanted to get out!.

Can I lay Kingspan across the joists then a few loft boards to walk on across as well, will the Kingspan hold up? (I don't plan to be in there much!).

The joists are all over the place width apart wise, it would be a pain to have to lay it inside the joists, plus the lath and plaster is all over the shop.

Just got to clear that void/ flue out down the side of the chimney, I've had my arm in and pulled all sorts out but it's still packed tight with twigs and dead animals..

might have been rats, they drag stuff into shelter.

Yeh that is a possibility, I haven't come across any rat droppings but to be honest I wasn't looking that closely at it!.

There's a twisty thing to unblock drains that might work?.

Wife mentioned we might have to pull his gas fire out and check behind there, Gas Safe job though I think it's all solid pipe. Might be able to get my endoscopic camera down the back to have a look.
