Planning on flushing system out with caustic soda. Good idea no?

Due to the high cost of conventional ch systems cleaners like sentinol x400 and such which are around £25 and probably contain a caustic soda mix anyway, or similar. Thought i'd use some caustic soda that i have knocking around in the shed. Know it's kinda lethal stuff so wouldn't use a too strong mix.

What are your thoughts please?
