Standard plugs work for most application , the odd one being thermalite as it's too soft, the Fischer twist plugs give excellent purchase. Where they can't be used ( my walls are 60 insulated plasterboard) then for light fixing I whittle a point on 6mm dowel and hammer in a 100mm length which has worked well, so far .
