Plaster flush to tiles?

I'm planning a bathroom renovation where part of the back wall above the bath will be tiled. I quite like the idea of rendering the wall so it's flush with the edge of the tiles, rather than having a lip. Is this possible/advisable?

It's an old French house. The existing wall is stone covered with some sort of fairly tough render - I've put ceramic tiles directly onto it before without any problem. I guess the tiles plus adhesive will be 10-12mm thick at least.

Any tips gratefully received

Depending how flat the wall is, you could fix/bed a 10mm galvanised plaster stop bead against vertical edge of the tiles and plaster to it. A plaster stop bead is meant for this type of work. You can also get deeper than 10mm stop beads, but if you're talking about a 12mm tile/adhesive depth or so, you can "bed" the 10mm bead out to suit the finished tile level.
