Hi, I'm just wondering does anyone think this could possibly be AIB in the airing cupboard of a house we've purchased? Or just normal plasterboard?

It's a 1970's council build, all walls and the ceiling on this room are this material. Just slightly worried as there is some visible damage.

Thanks in advance

Looks like PB to me (it does have paper faces, doesn't it?), but if in doubt get it tested as airing cupboards are a bit of a hotspot (no pun intended) for ACMs and visual inspection alone isn't a guaranteed method of confirmation. If the house was sold by a council in the last 15 to 20 years they would possibly have a report on it as councils have been quite pr4oactive in removing ACMs. Also, what did your survey have to say about asbestos?

BTW when I did AIB installation many years back the airing cupboards got AIB on the back of the upper door and often around the upper walls (around the cylinder) and on the ceiling. Can't remember doing many full height walls (cost?)

Thanks for the reply. I can't identify paper faces on it, it seems quite smooth to the touch.

The survey mentioned a possibility of asbestos in textured ceilings in three rooms, no mention of this airing cupboard at all though. There is another storage room off a bedroom which has the same walls and ceiling material as the airing cupboard.

There's no board of any type on the back of the door, which is made of slatted timber. The entire walls and ceiling in this room are of the material in the pictures I attached as opposed to any specific area.

There is a hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard, fingers crossed it's nothing but maybe should get tested as you say.
