If all that mould is from condensation, which I am guessing is likely as it is high up and no sign of pluming there, then insulating the walls like JobAndKnock suggests is going to prevent future problems coming back, and make it a much more comfy home that is cheaper to run too.

but those thin sections of masonry below the windows are often cold bridging spots because they are so much thinner than the rest of the walls and it's solid masonry

Ive got penetrating damp from the outside render, been over 6 months have been waiting for a quote... Had one person turn up so fa and try to scam me, another guy coming on Sunday.. finally!

Thankyou for the information though. At worst a day's extra work for 2 people plus the materials for that smallish area wouldnt be more than £500. Even that is high right? Still I'd be willing to pay it.

No idea what rates are where you are, but looks like a single day for one competent man depending on what is found underneath. Two days for one man, absolute max. Local rates for joiners up here is circa £250 or so
