That wouldnt be fair on you now would it SOOEY!

Thanks all the same.

CORGIGROUCH.. Excellent assesment opf the things at large.. I agree with all of that.. I also dont doubt that there is money in the system somewhere...

With some people earning 350 min per day there has got to be money somewhere.. However all I know and can control is the figure on my bank balance sheet... if you dont believe me you can have a look.

Anyhow this is silly ..it keep going round and round with arguments that are difficult to ignore from all sides.

I am just ****ed off that I am not in a situation to commission a CORGI registered professional to install my new boiler at a fair rate le alone at any rate.. say a rate that a big house building firm would pay someone who is installing 245 of them in a new development...

I dont know much about new developments and I dont know much about boilers so I am very grateful for your collective input..

Still Happy

At the end of the day it ALL comes down to SAFETY if anything went wrong it would be the corgi that would be up sh*t creek.

You are not quoting me so I can not see how is it relevant in any way ..I am a postman...

in response to earlier postings re extra managerial activities and book balancing... why dont you pay an accountant to do that for you?? Would it be something to do with ..why pay someone to do something you can do yourself??!! Does this smell of double standards to you?

Very clever!

it can never just be a simple case of labour charge for installing a boiler on pipework you have not done or seen.they need to cater for problems in the future .cos who you gonna call and blame when u get problems or a flood and try to blame him.for example when you fit a new boiler and it breaks down due to a boiler fault most plumbers will call back n fix out of courtesy not just ring the boiler conmpany all this has to be considered

i had my bosch boiler connected to my old system.
it cost me £300 on a saturday morning.
my plumber is corgi and everything was done as it should be.
(he would not travel, he doesnt have too)
you are being too hard on that matey.

are you lot sure that you wouldnt be moaning when the electrician comes around :(

some of you need to think that you will earn more in a day than he will earn in a week! not your fault;i know but he doesnt need the beating guys.
...........
happy, maybe you should be a bit more gracious to people you are asking to help.

But you probably didn't commit the cardinal sin of removing the boiler from the box.
Aside from that his pipework might leak like a seive.

i didnt :) ... and i bought; what i was told to.

i do realise that most of the answers given are correct but i think that there is a lot of justifying going on.
all trades have a time of being the best paid or getting bad press. i think it is(or was) the plumbers time.

i dont really know corgi requirements, but i see it that if his pipeworks leaks it will be down to him.
depends on the current state of his house.

anyway :)

Sorry, what a load of bulls**t. If an RGI goes round to connect up someone elses installation and if said installation leaks or has other faults, then the RGI would be held accountable by the customer, not the original installer.

just a quick question for the op

will you still pay the corgi guy if he was to connect the boiler up and run gas pipework and then as he started to commision the system it started leaking and so on and he couldnt finish commisioning the boiler due to the leaks or any other problem that arise due to your work?

of course! I have no problem with paying a fair price...

it would be grossly unfair of me not to.. if the fault is mine why would I mistreat a person who is trying to accommodate me??

in another house...if the boiler is being replaced what is to say the existing pipework is any good?

furthemore my understanding is that pipe work can be tested for leaks prior to filling the system....

Totally unrealistic. That wouldn't be anywhere near the same figure. Not the same job at all.
