Hello, I live in a 3 bed semi and am low on funds as is everyone at the moment!! Hubby is in afghan and our boiler has packed up. So the last thing i need is the responsibility of a new boiler!! We have been offered a remeha 28, 5 year warranty a 1400 replacement radiator in the living/dining room and a small double we have already that they will fit in the kitchen, £1500.00. Corgi/gas safe registered etc.
My worry is that i might agree to the wrong boiler and haven't got a clue on them at all we have an old worcester 240 in at the moment and the job appears easy enough or so they tell me !. Please could anyone honestly tell me if the Remeha's are any good, reliability and access to parts if needed.
Sorry to go on and Thanks for any advice in advance

The condense is a soakaway he is taking that to the drain, trv's he will supply for the 2 new radiators and £10 each for the remaining which I am happy with as I requested that , he is also supplying a new thermostat. I havent asked about the flush as it didnt occur to me as i thought that was standard so will have to ask about that. Thanks so much for the two very quick replies below, I am really grateful.

Thanks for all your replies I'm just wondering if I deserve answers to another question ?

For another £200 I could get a worcester I think greenstar with all the same as above If I could get that together which would you suggest to go for? The warranty is less than remeha 5 year which i need to check whether is full like mentioned below I have a feeling it isnt.

I know I am being a nusience but I don't want to regret my choice ;)

best to list everything your RGI has said he will do for £1500

chemical flush?

controls upgrade?

how many new rads? trvs?

soakaway or condense plumbed in?

etc etc.

as the boiler has a 5 year warranty, you dont need to worry about parts for at least 5 years

remeha does have a good name, imho

remaha is a good make,a bit of controvercy over the warranty, whether its 5 years parts and labour.

the main thing is to get the system cleaned when he installs the boiler/rads and inhibitor added

also sounds a good price

Which Model has he quoted for, the combi or system boiler.

The Avanta range are some of the best on the market, and the RGI must be an approved installer to offer the full 5 year warranty, so go for it and enjoy.

The standard warranty out of the box is 5 year parts, 2 years labour.

Nothing controversial about that, plain and simple ;)

She hasn't said that he has offered a FULL 5 year warranty. The more unscrupulous may infer that

If I buy from my local independent then i get the full 5 yrs parts and labour.

To the OP.The Avanta is a very good boiler.I have fitted quite afew of these with no problems.Broag are quite strict on the cleaning/flushing of existing sytems, and will not honour any future warranty work, caused by insufficient cleaning/flushing.Talk to your installer to verify exactly what is being done.

quite controversial that

1-0 BingoBongo

If you are getting a full 5 year warranty, is this registered via the merchant?

If not how do Broag know your boiler serial number for the extra warranty?

I register all mine direct by e-mail in accordance with my contract in place.

Dave

Yeah it is registered via the merchant.
I have to send the normal warranty off to Broag, and then fill in and hand in form to merchants,to get the extra 3 years labour.

Its a worcester greenstar i phoned him earlier it will supply the same rate of hot water etc as the remeha. He prefers the remeha reckons the only difference is the Bosch tag really and hasnt had any problems with the ones he has installed so he really is leaving me to the descision

I know i keep going on its just such a lot of money at this time of year and with everything going on i dont want to be tight and regret it in the long run and everyone feels comfortable with a name they know!

would much rather be ummming and arghing over a chinese menu than this. . :D

Is it the greenstar Junior, greenstar SI or Greenstar CDI? there is a big difference in quality between the different models!

I dont think you will be disappointed with the Avanta.
If you have faith in your installer, then go for the avanta and enjoy.

The WB is probably a junior. These are the most basic combis that WB do.
