I’m trying to swap the radiator in the bathroom with this towel radiator. I’ve got as far as fixing the new radiator to the wall and I’m just at the point of plumbing in the water valves.

Im struggling to get them screwed into the internal thread in the bottom of the radiator, is there not meant to be a nut? Also with the pipes still connected it’s basically impossible to get them screwed on. How do I get the push fittings out of the valves? And then I assume I’ll just need some new push fittings to reconnect the pipe after screwing the valve into the radiator?

at least there will be towels on it to hide that abortion of pipework behind it

1. Generally the valves do not screw into the female threaded radiator inlets. A male threaded "tail" is screwed into the radiator, sealed with PTFE or some other way (plenty of internet advice).
2. The valves are then connected to the tails, with either compression fittings or union fittings. Yours look like compression fittings, but I can't be sure from the photograph.
3. There would have been tails in the removed radiator. If you haven't kept them, you will have to buy new ones.
4. For "normal" radiators, the inlets are normally on the ends and the valves attach one at each side. For towel rails, the inlets are normally on the bottom. You may need to change the right angle valve you have for straight valves, but this is a matter of aesthetics.
5. If you use the existing valves, you could probably avoid removing the push fit connectors attached to them.

The internal threads at the bottom of the towel rail need to have standard radiator tails screwed into them, sealed with PTFE tape. You need to remove these tails from the radiator you took out and fit them to the towel rail. Then your valves will simple attach to the tails in the same way as they did to these tails when you have your old radiator in place, by screwing up the collar on each valve
